Getting settled

Although we set goals, timelines, etc.… don’t get frustrated if your goals are not completed in the time frame you would have liked. An unforeseen challenge is a part of Life. Life will happen. How you deal with this challenge will speak volumes of your character.

Transition is never easy. Although our comfort zone level varies for each person, until we step out and face our challenges, we will never grow to our full potential. As we enter into a new season, how will you spring into action?

Stepping out…

Whatever your race, age, gender, religion, class, and/or disability, we all experience a different journey. We all grow at different levels. We all create our own comfort zones. And although it is easier said than done, once you become an adult, the only thing that is holding you back in life is yourself. Yes, we all make sacrifices to meet our obligations, but how often do we take that extra step? Sometimes it is as easy as making a phone call, sending an e-mail, filling out the application, etc. Hopefully as we mature, we understand we can pick our choices, but we can not pick our consequences. What choices are you making?

Why create/buy more stuff when everything you need already exists?

Stop and take the time to ask yourself…What is the quality of life? How you can be more thankful for what you already have? With these recent natural disasters, this should be a wake up call to what really matters in life.

Are you prepared?

This month’s awareness blog informs natural disasters are often unexpected and devastating, but being proactive cost less stress and money than being reactive. Ready.gov provides an emergency checklist, http://www.ready.gov/america/_downloads/checklist.pdf, but don’t just stop there. What other innovative ways can you be sustainable in an emergency? Will you have a solar flashlight/radio/cell phone charger in lieu of purchasing batteries? How will you remain warm or cool? Think about it.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! This past year…this past decade has been a challenging string of events. Whatever your experience, embrace this new decade optimistically. There is a huge difference between visiting and living in a different country. Living in a different country will open your eyes to so many aspects of life. Looking out from within and looking in from the outside creates a new understanding. All so often we pay for items by habit, routine, etc. Although we feel we have trimmed our expenses to the bare minimum, we must open our eyes and become aware of everything we purchase, especially the necessities, and ask do I really need it?
